Membership in Solephia

Solephia is a walled city of learning and the online Christian community of Godhunting Resources. Anyone may come in free. Citizenship is a privilege, received in several ways, among them reading, studying and serving inside the wall.
You don’t have to be a Christian to belong. Visitors and Citizens may hold any belief or none. Solephia is a Christian community, and everyone who is comfortable learning and working alongside Christians is welcome. A few places and activities are meant for Christians and are shown only to them.
Every member has a small pennant beside their name. Its color shows whether you are a Visitor or a Citizen, and its stripes show what else you have earned or are doing now. Faith, scholarship and the Certified Godhunter stripe stay with you. Certification and service show only while they are current.
Two Levels of Membership: Visitor and Citizen
Every member is either a Visitor or a Citizen. Everyone starts as a free Visitor. Citizenship is a privilege that is received. Everything else on this page (Academy levels, recognition and service) is earned on top of your membership.
| Visitor | Free for everyone. Sign up and step inside the wall: read, explore the city, take the first course, and begin earning Solis. Visitors can see much of Solephia, but not all of it; some places are open only to Citizens. | |
|---|---|---|
| Citizen | A privilege. No one is born a Citizen of Solephia; citizenship is received, and there are several ways to receive it. It can be earned by taking part: reading, learning and serving. It can be given in recognition of contributions of time or of gifts. And it can be conferred as an honor, as a knighthood is. Citizens can use every part of Solephia open to members, including places Visitors cannot enter. How to become a Citizen. |
Academy Levels
Godhunter Academy teaches fourteen free courses. Each level you pass opens the next. Only the last, Certified Godhunter, adds a stripe to your pennant.
| Godhunter | Every member who sets out on the Academy’s fourteen-course path to becoming a Certified Godhunter, beginning with the free first course, Looking for Footprints: A Forensic Approach to Finding God. | |
|---|---|---|
| Investigator | Opened by passing the first course. | |
| Scout | Opened by passing the courses of the Investigator level. | |
| Candidate | Opened by passing the courses of the Scout level. | |
| Certified Godhunter | Awarded for passing all fourteen courses. This is the only Academy level marked on the pennant. |
Recognition
Recognition honors what you bring to Solephia: your skills, your learning and your faith. Most are applied for. Each application is read by a person, and you may reapply as often as you wish. Certification is earned by passing a test or by review.
| Scholar | For those who qualify by formal or informal training and experience. You apply and describe your background. Our leaders review each application. | |
|---|---|---|
| Christian Scholar | A Scholar who is also a Christian and is glad to be known as one. Apply as for Scholar; the application also asks about your faith. | |
| Certified | Anyone who holds a current certification, earned by test or by review, to work on one of our tools or tasks. The stripe shows that you hold at least one. Which ones you hold appears in your directory listing. | |
| New Christian | For believers beginning their walk of faith. You apply and answer a few questions about what you believe, and a person reviews it. Your pennant shows it, as it shows every membership. | |
| Established Christian | For believers of long standing who are members in good standing of a church, order or denomination within one of the major Christian theological traditions. You apply and tell us your story, and a person reviews it. Your pennant shows it. |
Service
Solephia is run by its members. Those who serve in one of our six divisions (Publication, Education, Outreach, Finance, Technology and Planning) or in the city’s own government carry a mark of service while they are serving. The mark shows your level, not where you serve. Service is paid in Solis.
| Apprentice | You are serving and still learning the work. | |
|---|---|---|
| Journeyman | You are serving and have proven yourself. If you hold roles at both levels, your pennant shows Journeyman. | |
| Leaders | Directors and Deputy Directors of the divisions, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Solephia, board members and officers. Every leader carries the same mark: we do not rank one leader above another. |
Reading a pennant
Purple or gold shows your membership level. A pennant can carry up to five stripes, always in the same order, and a mark along the tail for leaders.
- Faith. Light blue for a New Christian, deep blue for an Established Christian.
- Certified Godhunter. Orange, once all fourteen Academy courses are passed.
- Scholarship. White for a Scholar, white with three red bars for a Christian Scholar.
- Certification. Black, while you hold at least one current certification.
- Service. Light green for an Apprentice, dark green for a Journeyman, while you are serving.
A dark edge along the tail marks a leader. Hover over or tap any pennant to read it. Click a pennant or a name to open that member's directory listing, where their certifications and service are listed in full. Listings can be seen by members who have shared their own.
