For scholars, pastors and students
LXON® Christian Research Portal
Ask a research question about God, the Bible, the Church or the history of Christian thought. LXON searches a library of Christian works and answers with every source named, down to the paragraph, so you can check it and cite it.
LXON is built for serious work: the seminary paper, the sermon, the dissertation chapter, the question a colleague asked that you could not answer from memory. You sign in, ask your question, choose how deep the search should go, and see the price before anything is charged.
How a search works
- Open an account. Your name, email and a card, kept by Stripe; Godhunting never sees your card number.
- Ask your question in your own words. Limit it, if you like, to certain authors, works, dates or languages.
- Choose the level of search and see the fixed price for that search. It does not change after you agree to it.
- Receive your answer or report. A short answer appears on the screen; a longer report is emailed to you when it is ready.
Three levels of search
| Level | What you receive | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 3 search | A written answer with named sources, the other side of the argument where there is one, and the books to read next. | $5 + cost |
| Tier 2 search | Every passage the Library holds on your question. Public-domain works are quoted in full; copyrighted works are summarized. | $10 + cost |
| Tier 1 search | The whole Library. Longer passages from copyrighted works and, where the copyright holder approves, the full quotation. | $20 + cost |
"Cost" is what your search costs us: the AI that reads the books and royalties to copyright holders, rounded up to the next whole dollar. You see the total before your card is charged. If a search cannot be completed, your card is refunded in full.
What every answer gives you
- Named sources. The work and the paragraph for every point, so you can check it and cite it.
- The other side. Where scholars disagree, the opposing view in its own words.
- Books to read next. With a link to buy the book when it is not in the Library.
- A copy to keep. Download any answer or report as a PDF or Word file, with citations in Chicago, APA or SBL style.
A library built by volunteers
LXON is a research service of Godhunting Resources, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its library is built by volunteers who republish public-domain Christian books as clean, searchable digital editions with numbered paragraphs, so a passage can be cited exactly. Publishers and authors can add copyrighted works under license. Searching those books costs money only because the AI that reads them costs money: search fees cover the AI and the royalties, and support the volunteer work that builds the library.
Your research is yours
We do not keep a history of your questions under your name. A report stays available for download for one month after it is ready; after that, we do not promise it is still there, so keep your own copy. What LXON finds in answering may be used to build our research library.
Help us build it
LXON is being built now, and its library grows book by book as volunteers republish public-domain Christian works and publishers add their own. If you would like to take part, by preparing books, checking texts, or telling us what researchers in your field need, write to us.
